Our Story

Built from the ground up by Chris Newsome, NEC has evolved from one man’s vision into one of the most respected and trusted electrical construction companies throughout the Southeast.  

Motivated by substandard work, poor customer service and the mistreatment of employees, Chris set out to redefine what excellence means in the industry.  In 2009, guided by his faith and supported by his family, he founded Newsome Electrical Construction with a steadfast commitment to quality, integrity, and people-first values.

After earning his electrical license, Chris, alongside one employee, leveraged relationships to seek and chase new opportunities. When he learned that a local industrial customer was searching for a new electrical contractor, he took the initiative, persistently reaching out and relying on his personal reputation to introduce NEC and its capabilities.  The effort paid off and NEC landed its first industrial customer, who remains a valued partner to this day!

Within a year, NEC’s portfolio, team, and customer base grew sixfold, and the company was known for exceptional craftmanship, trusted performance, superior knowledge, and respected leadership.  

To date, NEC has completed hundreds of projects across 18 states, spanning key industries that include industrial, commercial, government, aviation, healthcare, banking, recreation, military, and faith-based organizations.

Chris Newsome – Owner/CEO

At the heart of everything Chris has achieved both personally and professionally, is his unwavering faith in God.  It’s the foundation upon which his life and values are built.

From an early age he was influenced by strong role models who instilled in him the importance of faith, a relentless work-ethic, uncompromising integrity, and the belief that anything is possible. This mindset didn’t just shape his journey, it defines it.

Chris began his career as a helper and quickly rose through the ranks, earning a reputation as an effective and respected leader. With over a decade of experience across multiple disciplines, he saw an opportunity to elevate the customer experience and build a culture where employees could thrive. That vision became reality in 2009 when he founded Newsome Electrical Construction.

Since then, Newsome Electrical Construction has grown into a premier provider of electrical construction services, delivering exceptional results across a diverse portfolio of projects.  At its core is a family first culture that values faith, empowerment, growth, and a shared commitment to excellence.

Terra Newsome – Chief Financial Officer

After a distinguished career in finance and health insurance management, Terra officially joined NEC in 2016.  Leveraging her extensive business acumen and customer relationship management skills, she quickly became immersed in the business, building a robust administrative and financial framework to support the company’s operations.

Today, as Chief Financial Officer, Terra leads a talented team that manages the company’s administrative functions, enabling her to focus on financial planning and analysis. Her strategic agility has enhanced financial transparency and reporting, positioning the company for long-term, sustainable growth.

Kyle Williams

Kyle Williams - Chief Operating Officer

Kyle grew up in the electrical construction industry, working his way up from helper to his current position as Chief Operating Officer.  Kyle began his journey with NEC in 2016 as the out-of-town Project Manager where he successfully expanded our portfolio of commercial accounts. Kyle possesses an adept ability to establish, grow and nurture strong industry relationships with a relentless focus on customer service.  

Since joining the business, Kyle has successfully led projects across 18 states, in a wide range of industries.  Today Kyle is responsible for overseeing operations, mentoring, and leading our team of experts and cultivating short- and long-term growth strategies for the business.

JP Pitzer

Chief Estimator

JP Pitzer - Chief Estimator

Prior to joining NEC in 2017 as our Estimator, JP built a storied career in the electrical industry.  As the business has grown, his role has expanded to include procurement and project management. JP oversees bid evaluations, estimates costs and timelines, drafts proposals, manages materials and submittals, and coordinates with subcontractors, making him an essential part of the NEC team.

With a natural aptitude for technology, JP utilizes a range of software solutions to manage bids and meet customer requirements efficiently and effectively.  Additionally, he is a key stakeholder when the business is looking to implement new systems that would position the company for long-term success.

Tim Rockefeller

Tim Rockefeller – Industrial Project Manager

Before joining NEC in 2016, Tim worked for two decades in the electrical field. He began his career working on commercial projects before taking on a role with a major manufacturer of household products, where he was responsible for supporting the plant’s electrical systems and initiatives.

Today, Tim is one of our Industrial Superintendents supporting many of the region’s most recognized industrial customers.  Known for his calm, methodical approach, expertise, and collaborative nature, Tim is a trusted partner focused on keeping operations running smoothly. Tim is respected by customers and colleagues alike.

Mike Croom – Industrial Project Manager

With over 30 years of experience, Mike has worked across every facet of electrical construction. A seasoned professional, he began his career as a helper and steadily advanced through the ranks, earning multiple promotions.  In 2017 he joined NEC where he quickly highlighted his leadership qualities working on several large projects.

Mike is widely recognized by customers and peers for his meticulous project oversight and no nonsense, results-driven approach.  He leads his team to deliver to the highest standards while fostering a culture of safety and professional development.

Demetrice Hall – Foreman

Since he was 14, Demetrice (“D”) has worked in the electrical field alongside his father, who owned a business and believed in preparing his children for successful careers in the trades. Those early experiences enabled D to build strong skills and gain extensive knowledge by working on residential and commercial projects with several companies.

In 2016, D joined NEC as an electrician and by demonstrating his expertise and leadership qualities, he advanced to his current role as Project Manager. He has successfully managed a wide range of projects, consistently delivering work to the highest standards.  D leverages his past experiences to develop his team, emphasizing the importance of superior workmanship and a commitment to exceed customer expectations.

Will Rogers – Foreman

After a brief career in the golf industry, Will wanted to find a profession that offered better work-life balance.  Introduced to wireless communications through family, he spent the next decade working for various businesses building his expertise in wireless systems, fiber optics, and data technology.  

In 2017, Will brought that expertise to NEC, joining the team as our dedicated data and fiber specialist. Since then, he has continued to grow, expanding his electrical knowledge and capabilities to become one of our Project Managers.  Will’s easy-going demeanor and approachable style make him highly effective in working with customers, peers, and his crew.

Sean Brown – Foreman

Sean always knew he wanted to pursue a career in the electrical construction industry. For almost three decades he gained extensive knowledge and skills while working at various organizations including running his own business for eight years.  

A natural leader, Sean, joined NEC in 2014 after learning about the company’s culture and leadership from a former colleague.  Initially hired as a Foreman, Sean was quickly promoted to his current role as Project Manager, responsible for supporting several key industrial clients. Known for his “can do” attitude, Sean ensures his team understands project requirements by listening and collaborating with the customer.

Abel Mendoza – Commercial Foreman

Abel began his career as a helper working with another electrical company, where he gained hands-on experience and deepened his knowledge by learning in the field. In 2018, he applied to NEC for a Foreman position after learning about the company’s vision of growing talent into leadership roles.

Abel is now a Commercial Project Manager, responsible for overseeing multiple projects throughout the Southeast. Working in an inclusive culture that encourages both professional and personal development, he takes pride in empowering his team to showcase their leadership qualities, preparing them for future promotion with the company.

Martin Escamilla – Commercial Foreman

Martin began his electrical construction career in 2013 as a helper working on projects in the commercial segment.  It was here he built his skills and developed a deep understanding of the trade.  In 2017, he joined NEC as an experienced electrician drawn by the company’s culture and opportunities for growth.  

Throughout his tenure with NEC, Martin has earned multiple promotions and now serves as the Commercial Project Manager for our out-of-town crew.  With a drive to exceed customer expectations and deliver every project with exceptional quality, Martin leads by example.  A dedicated mentor he is committed to the development of his team and helping them reach their full potential.

Caleb Newsome – Foreman

With three generations of the Newsome family rooted in the construction industry, it’s no surprise that Caleb chose to follow in their footsteps. In 2013, during spring break of his senior year in high school, he worked at NEC and quickly discovered how much he enjoyed the experience.

Since then, Caleb has contributed to a wide range of projects, steadily expanding his skills and expertise. Now a Foreman, he is a seasoned leader known for his commitment to getting the job done right, with an emphasis on delivering superior quality, professionalism, and customer service.

Even before high school, James had an interest in exploring a career in the trades, inspired by watching his family build and repair things. A few years after graduation, he began work for a local electrical construction company, where over the next decade, he advanced from Helper to Foreman.

In 2016 he joined NEC and continued to rise through the ranks, becoming an expert in both the industrial and commercial segments. As a Foreman, James leverages his exceptional organizational and communication abilities to lead and manage projects effectively. Committed to personal growth and development, James ensures he actively supports his team, ensuring they maximize opportunities to position them for success.

Jay has decades of expertise in the electrical industry, overseeing a wide range of projects from ground-up builds to large industrial projects. He has successfully managed and led crews through every phase of the project, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency are at the forefront of every decision. A mentor to others, he generously invests in developing team members and giving them the knowledge to expand and grow their capabilities.

Scott Burnett, PMP – Lead Electrical Engineer – Power & Controls

With a degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Southern University and over 15 years of experience supporting industrial operations for some of the world’s most trusted consumer brands, Scott Burnett brings proven expertise to every project.

Scott oversees electrical design and provides technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. He is known for developing efficient, cost‑effective solutions tailored to each facility’s operational demands. His expertise in power distribution, motor control, VFDs, PLCs, and automation enables him to collaborate effectively with project stakeholders, ensuring all requirements and emerging technologies are integrated into the project scope.

A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Scott applies project management principles to keep projects on schedule, within scope, and aligned with customer expectations combining engineering insight with disciplined execution for successful outcomes.

Office Manager

Rebecca Sebold, Office Manager

Known for her exemplary attention to detail, superior organizational agility, and remarkable memory, Rebecca truly is the glue that keeps us organized. With a background in accounting, Rebecca joined the NEC family in 2017 as the Commercial Administrative Assistant supporting customers with contract administration, project details, and billing.

Since then, Rebecca has been instrumental in supporting both the business and our team. Now serving as the Office Manager Rebecca tackles everything from daily administrative functions and human resources to implementing new systems that drive efficiency and support the continued growth of the business.
